Reflections from our Data Support Intern

My journey with Young Westminster Foundation began in 2022 during my second year of university when I was given the opportunity to volunteer for them during the summer, an opportunity that will always have a big impact on my life. Through that experience, it made me value how important YWF are to help communities like the one I grew up in London.

Studying Data Science & Analytics made me enthusiastic about data, and initially I helped YWF with organising and cleaning their database. By being surrounded by such an amazing group of people I was invited to see a project they funded, and make my own assessment of how the project is set up and how it runs.

By keeping in contact with YWF after graduating, they gave me the opportunity to be a Data Support Associate as an intern for two months. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to have made an impact in supporting communities; by using my skills to build interactive maps, undertake data analysis insights and organise their database.

My journey with Young Westminster Foundation has finally come to an end as I managed to secure a full-time role as a Junior Data Analytics Engineer. Once again my experience at YWF enabled me to continue searching for opportunities that are available to me; something I never knew growing up.

Having this opportunity was invaluable to me as it taught me how Young Westminster Foundation value and care about the communities that are living the same way I did. I have so much appreciation and respect for my colleagues and the entire organisation and my development as a person has been immense for which I am very grateful.
Everyone in this organisation is so important through their knowledge, expertise and humility; to say I had an opportunity to learn from them will forever hold value in my life.

Thank you, Young Westminster Foundation, for the amazing work you do I will always keep in touch and hope to see this charity grow exponentially.
