We’re hiring: Social Media and Events Intern

The Young Westminster Foundation (YWF) is seeking a creative Social Media and Events Intern to join our Marketing & Communications team.

Contract: Part-time, 3-4 days/week (3 month position with opportunity to extend)
Start date: Late March/Early April 2022
Salary: £11.05/hr (London Living Wage)
Location: Young Westminster Foundation’s Office in Soho with opportunity for flexible and remote working

Deadline: Friday 4th March @ 5pm

You will support us in creating engaging online content, managing our social media calendar and contributing to wider digital communications, as well as supporting the events planning and management for our 5th birthday campaign. This includes opportunities to lead on creative ideas and development of film work and other material that promotes your personal development, the work of YWF and captures youth voice.

About Young Westminster Foundation

Young Westminster Foundation brings together youth organisations, young people, businesses, Westminster City Council, government, schools, funders and the wider community to create opportunities for Westminster’s young people. Since 2017, we have been supporting local youth clubs and organisations through grants, training and networking opportunities. Forging partnerships with businesses, public sector partners, individuals and major funders, our work helps strengthen services for all young people in the borough.

Key Responsibilities:

We’re looking for someone proactive and creative to take on this role – increasing reach, raising awareness of our work and driving positive engagement on our social media channels and across our websites.

You will help coordinate the social media calendar for YWF, as well as supporting content creation across all our channels; in collaboration with our member and partner organisations and local young people.

You will support the ongoing development of our new Our City website, a platform listing and promoting activities and programmes to local young people.

You will support the planning and execution of our major celebration event in June 2022, part of our 5th birthday campaign.

What we are looking for:

You will have some experience of digital marketing and communications, including creating and managing organisational social media content.

  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with copy-writing for social media platforms
  • Some knowledge and experience in managing a social media calendar with success in creating and commissioning innovative and engaging social media content
  • Some experience in using data and reporting to maximise impact of social media content
  • Some experience of web design and creating/editing basic graphics, video and animation using software such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Effects, WordPress
  • Some experience of events administration
  • You will be practical and proactive, confident to work independently as well as committed to working in an inclusive and collaborative way.

The role is ideal for anybody interested in a career in charity communications, digital marketing or creative work, and offers flexibility to be shaped by the skillset and interests of the placeholder. It will include training opportunities and the chance to work alongside a diverse range of stakeholders, including youth charities, media agencies and Westminster City Council.
