The Young Westminster Foundation has formally launched! We welcomed our community for a very special celebration of the thriving youth sector in Westminster, at Madame Tussauds on June 13th 2018.
18 months ago the Foundation was set up, 13 months ago it became operational when our CEO Phil Barron set to work armed with just a laptop. He was given mandate to set to work to set up the Young Westminster Foundation, to build a new membership organisation and sustain youth services in Westminster.
Fast forward just over a year to our launch event and we were joined by 150 friends of the foundation (and we had a waiting list!) including members, partners & young people. All brought together with a commitment to foster collaboration led by young people’s ambition, sharing a vision to create the best opportunities for young people in Westminster to have better and brighter futures.
We’d like to thank all who attended including partners from the business & public sectors, council officers, councillors, MPs, the police, schools, housing associations, universities, charities and young people.
We’d particularly like to thank, recognise and celebrate our 46 brilliant members – independent non-profit organisations, all delivering activities with children and young people across Westminster.
And finally a huge thank you to our inspiring speakers and performances on the evening:
Host – Claire Clottey (Young Brent Foundation)
Dream Arts Performance (Transforming young lives through art and therapy)
Phil Barron (Young Westminster Foundation)
Stuart Love (Chief Executive of Westminster City Council)
Claude Abi-Gerges (Managing Director of Capital Arches Group, YWF Founding Partner)
Young Westminster Foundation Young Ambassadors
Carol Archibald (Youth Worker at Avenues Youth Project)
Hamza Taouzzale (YWF Trustee, Queens Park Councillor)
Look out for our film from the event over the coming weeks. In the meantime please enjoy the photos on our Facebook page.
We now look ahead to the next year and beyond, working together with our community to sustain and grow our vital youth sector.
