On Thursday 9th November we hosted a cocktail reception for our partners at magnificent St James’s Court, Taj Hotel. We were joined by over 100 guests who included businesses, councillors, council officers, trustees and our Young Ambassadors. Our Young Ambassadors attended the event and spoke to guests about their experiences carrying out our recent Needs Analysis.
The evening began with a bang with a fanfare from the Coldstream Guards, a real Westminster icon. This was followed by a welcome on behalf of Westminster City Council from Councillor Christabel Flight in her role as Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster.
Our keynote speaker was Aziz Saiq, Westminster Youth MP. Aziz gave a powerful speech about growing up in the Church Street area, his work representing the young people of Westminster and his impressions of the YWF. Aziz said: “The importance of the Young Westminster Foundation is and will be evident as there is change that is needed to be made to ensure that young people are being given the opportunities to showcase their passion and drive towards the success that we all cherish.”
Our CEO, Phil Barron, gave a call to action for founding partners and announced our first three founding partners who are:
- The Taj Group
- Shaftesbury
- Capital Arches Group (McDonald’s franchise chain)
